I posted a letter to my daughter Claire about her faith and God’s promises and I wanted to pair that up with a post about a resource which we recently found that has been very helpful. Andy Naselli recommended God’s Love by Champ Thornton (an iPad app). The app is an interactive copy of the book by the same name.
We already had been using The Jesus Storybook Bible regularly and I was very pleased with it but I thought it would be nice to have something Claire can “read” herself. I bought it on a whim after reading Andy’s post. It covers 120 stories with engaging illustrations. The iPad app offers options for each story to be narrated and words in each story can touched that will focus on different parts of the corresponding illustration. My only wish was for more illustrations for the narration. You might listen to two minutes of story with a single illustration.
I can’t peel my daughter away from this storybook. She loves it. I don’t think it’s a preference necessarily of the story above any of our other storybook Bibles but she loves to have it read to her. Most nights before bed I can find her sitting down and listening to it for 15-20 minutes. We’ll wrap it up with Bible reading and prayer. I have found the God’s Love app complementary and engaging. I could say more but I conducted an impromptu interview with Claire about the app. It’s humorous and helpful. Enjoy!
