Together for the Gospel: General Recap #T4G12

Well I arrived home from Together for the Gospel not long ago. I’m settled in at home and just wanted to offer a general recap before offering something more in-depth early next week. I had a fantastic time. One thing I’ve always loved about blogging is growing my communion and fellowship with other believers. I went to Together for the Gospel alone, not 100% sure who might be there. I ended up seeing a few familiar faces but had the opportunity to hang out with Scott Bennett. I very much appreciate his fellowship over the last week.

I also had the opportunity to attend two smaller gatherings--the Dinner & Dialogue through Southern and Band of Bloggers hosted by Timmy Brister. These smaller intimate gatherings were fantastic and BoB maybe the hidden gem of the T4G event because I received as many free books from this 300 person event as I did through T4G itself. Amazing. Since the books are what everyone asks first here’s what I got:

Also, as a side note just received Warfield on the Christian Life from Crossway for review. So that will be up shortly on the blog.

My experience was wonderful. The preaching as would be expected was off the charts but the singing shouldn’t be overlooked. 9,000 lovers of Christ pouring their hearts out to God in worship is something to experience and Bob Kauflin did a fantastic job selecting songs which exalted Christ and the cross.

My favorite message by a mile was Lig Duncan’s “The Underestimated God: God’s Ruthless, Compassionate Grace in the Pursuit of His Own Glory and His Ministers’ Joy.” His message spoke so personally and powerfully to my heart. I had to fend off tears through the sermon. You must listen to it. A very close second was David Platt’s sermon on missions. Here are my notes from each message

You can also watch videos of each message here.
